Pioneering gender-inclusive media in Africa

From a bold idea in 1994 to a regional force — we've been reshaping narratives from the ground up.

African Woman and Child Feature Service (AWCFS) was born out of a simple but radical belief: that media can be a powerful engine for gender equality and social justice.

We work at the intersection of media, gender, and development — inside newsrooms, with policymakers, and alongside communities. Our approach is hands-on, research-led, and unapologetically collaborative.

Over the last three decades, we have trained hundreds of journalists, produced ground-breaking reports, and influenced media policies across Eastern Africa. We don't just talk about change — we engineer it.
