African Woman and Child Features (AWC) attended the launch of the Gender Round Table in Kajiado County, which took place on Thursday the 28th July 2016 starting at 9:30 am to 1:00 P.m at the Ngong Catholic Church.
National Women’s Steering Committee (NWSC) and the Council of Governors endeavors to jointly enhance women’s public participation in county development through the establishment of the Gender Round Tables. The Gender Round Table, seeks to create a platform where County based women organized groups at all levels of the County, come to a round table with their various leaders in the County to highlight issues of concern to women and enhance their participation in the development agenda of the County.
The highlights of the launch included but not limited to the following:
- Women across the county share their views and aspirations toward county development and impact to their lives
- Establishment of linkages and working relations between the County leaders which include the the Governor, Senator, MPs, MCA, and other County leaders, stakeholders and development partners with the aim to advance women’s socio-economic status and enhance their public participation.
- Sharing of strategies by the County Government and other leaders on how they intend to engage women in the development issues in the county.
