African Woman and Child (AWC) Feature Service is currently implementing a Jamii Thabiti programme that focuses on three forms of violence: Violence against Women and Girls; Criminal Violence, and Inter-Communal Violence. Under this programme, AWC Feature Service is focusing on Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) . In this regard, the organization is working with state and non-state actors to end this form of violence.
Members of County Assembly (MCAs) are strategic partners of this project and to this end AWC is hosting a 2 day workshop with MCAs from Kisumu County.
The objectives of the workshop are:
- To increase understanding and clarity of Members of County Assembly on definition, forms, and presentation of violence against women and girls
- To enhance the knowledge and skills of Members of County Assembly on legal and policy responses to violence against women and girls
- To discuss the role of Members of County Assembly in increasing the County’s attention to violence against women and girls in laws, programming and budgeting.
